Labyrinthitis

Labyrinthitis is inflammation of the balance system in the inner ear (the “labyrinth”). Most people with labyrinthitis will experience vertigo and other symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, hearing loss, tinnitus, ear pain, and fever. Labyrinthitis is most commonly caused by a viral infection, e.g. a cold or flu. It can also be caused by a bacterial infection, such as meningitis or middle ear infection.
