Otitis Media or Middle Ear Infection

Middle ear infection or otitis media, is inflammation of the middle ear, often combined with an infection of the middle ear space.

Acute otitis media has a sudden onset with symptoms like ear pain and fever, while chronic otitis media involves persistent inflammation and may lead to long-term hearing problems.

Prolonged episodes of ear infection are known to cause auditory processing disorders in children due to auditory deprivation (lack of sound stimulation to the brain) caused by transient loss of hearing. In many cases chronic ear infections are caused by biochemical disorders associated with allergies.

Professional medical advice is crucial for proper diagnosis and treatment..
